What Happens When We Disobey God?

Imagine that the CEO of a large American company gave a clear order to all workers of his company, and every single worker ignored him. Let’s say he set a policy that everyone had to work in the office, not at home, three days a week, but everyone ignored the policy and worked from home five days a week.
One month after implementing the CEO’s policy, the head of human resources reports to the CEO: “No one is paying any attention to your policy.”
What do you think the CEO would do? Would he say something like, “Oh well, don’t worry about it.” Or, “I guess I had a bad idea. My employees certainly know what is best for the company.” Or, “I need to chill out. Who am I to tell our employees what to do?”
No, that would not happen. The CEO would begin disciplining and firing employees, starting with his vice presidents.
Think now about God. He gives commandments to every member of humanity. Isaiah 33:22 says, “The LORD is our lawgiver.” For example, God gave the two tablets of stone to Moses on Mount Sinai, on which were written the Ten Commandments.
How much attention do most people pay to those commandments? How much thought do you give to God’s commandments? God gave many other commands in addition to the Ten Commandments. Have you ever studied the Bible to learn what God commands you to do and not do?
We know what a corporate CEO would do if his policies were ignored. What does God do if people ignore and disobey his commands?
