Lake Shore Church

From Pastor’s Desk

A weekly word for the congregation — encouragement, Scripture, and what’s ahead.

This week from Pastor’s Desk

Pastor Brian’s weekly word to Lake Shore.

Dear Lake Shore Church family,

In yesterday’s message we saw that if we want to enter the kingdom of God we must be born again. Listen to Have You Been Born Again? I urge you to share the link < https://craigbrianlarson.libsyn.com/have-you-been-born-again> to this message with people in your circles who need to be born again. In this way I can work with you to share the gospel with people in your circles of trust. Together we can “do the work of an evangelist” (2 Timothy 4:5) and fulfill our “partnership in the gospel” (Philippians 1:5).

This Sunday, October 11, we will have a special guest speaker: Illinois Assemblies of God Assistant Superintendent Roy Rhodes and his wife Leighanne.

October 11th is also Chicago Marathon Sunday, so please plan ahead about how you can still make it to church.

You can watch the full video of yesterday’s meeting here.

Keeping Our Vision in View

Pray that we receive and implement wisdom from God about how to win converts weekly who are enfolded in our church as true disciples. Our goal is to bear fruit through evangelism. (See Matthew 28:18–20. James 1:5)

The Effectiveness of Our Evangelism Depends on Prayer

I ask you to convince lost souls in Chicago of the truths of the gospel. Convict them of sin, righteousness, and judgment and call them effectually to God. When the members of our church spread the gospel to them, cause it to come with power, with the Holy Spirit, with deep conviction, and with full revelation of its meaning.

A Promise of Answers to Prayer and Faith

God “is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us” (Ephesians 3:20 ESV).

A Promise of Protection

Psalm 91:2 says, “I will say to the LORD, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’” ESV

A Promise of Wisdom

Matthew 23:10 says, “You have one instructor, the Christ.” (ESV)

A Promise of Healing and Health

Isaiah 38:16 ESV says, “O Lord, by these things men live, and in all these is the life of my spirit. Oh restore me to health and make me live!”

A Promise of Full Provision

Proverbs 3:9–10 says, “Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.” (ESV)

An Exhortation from Jesus

“Repent” (Mark 1:15).

The Reliability of the Bible

Jesus said, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away” (Matthew 24:35 ESV).

Much love,

Pastor Brian
