Title: Joy in the Resurrection
Scripture: In the narrative of the resurrection of Jesus, Matthew 28:5–8 says,
“The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.’ 8 So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples.” (Scriptures in these devotionals are in the ESV Bible, unlisted noted otherwise. And any italics are added.)
Main Idea: For a believer, the resurrection of Jesus is one of the greatest enduring sources of joy.
More: The resurrection of Jesus changes everything. To pass from the prospect of death to life, from despair to hope, from having a dead Messiah to a living Messiah, means everything—everything! The grave is not the end of your story! Your skeleton in a casket is not the end of your story! Jesus lives and reigns forevermore! He has conquered death! You can live with him and have a resurrection body like his forevermore! Rejoice!
Faith and Worship Declarations: I believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died for my sins, was buried, but was raised on the third day in a resurrection body that lives forevermore. Therefore I too will be raised from the dead in a resurrection body that lives forevermore. All glory and thanks to you, Lord Jesus!
