Title: Rejoicing in God’s Presence

Scripture: Psalm 21:6 says

“You make him most blessed forever; you make him glad with the joy of your presence.”

Main Idea: God’s presence brings joy.

For Hungry Readers: Thankfully we do not have to wait until we get to heaven to experience the joy of God’s presence. The primary way you can know his presence today is by thinking about him and his Word regularly. You can pause for a few seconds and pray in your heart or out loud. Here are ten suggestions for the content of your brief prayers:

  1. Praise. For example: “God, I praise you for you are eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God.”
  2. Thanks. For example: “Lord, thank you for helping me write that proposal.”
  3. Petition. Example: “Lord, help me talk to John about our disagreement earlier today.”
  4. Faith Declaration. Ex.: “The Lord is my provider.”
  5. Scripture. “‘Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.’ Philippians 4:4”
  6. Love and devotion. “Lord, I love you. I trust in you. I need you. I will serve you all my days.”
  7. Surrender. “Lord, I give everything I have to you again today. I surrender my family, my job, my possessions, my money, my body to you.”
  8. Repentance. “Lord, I confess feeling envious of Sarah’s new home. Please forgive me.”
  9. Dedication. “Lord, I dedicate this afternoon of work to you and your glory. I will labor for you, not for myself.”
  10. Rejoicing. “Lord, I feel good, I am glad, that you are my helper.”

Faith Declarations: I find joy in turning my thoughts to God.
