Day 10 — Tuesday, March 14th
Scripture: Jesus said, “I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” (John 10:9–11, italics added)
Main Idea: It is the good favor of Jesus that moves him to seek a good life for us, and not just a good life but an abundantly good life. God’s favor is not grudging, but abundant.
For Hungry Readers: Jesus wants our very best. He wants us to have access to God. He wants us to be saved. He wants us to have food and rest. He wants us to have life, in fact abundant life. He is the good shepherd who gives himself that all this abundant life will be ours. This is a summary of divine favor toward us. Favor means he wants our good. He wants our good more than we do. As a result, everything good we want in life comes as a result of the favor of Jesus.
Faith Declarations: God deals abundantly and generously with me. In his favor toward me, God wants me to have abundant life. In Christ I have abundant life.
